Small GPS tracking device

As I have mentioned before on this blog I really want to get myself a GPS (Global Positioning System) device. A GPS will make it more convenient for me when I am out tracking in the forest, out fishing with my boat (it would be great to know the exact spots where there are tons of fish) or want to find a specific location in cities that I am not so familiar with.

There are many different options when you want to shop for a GPS. A company called Land Air Sea sells a device that is used for GPS Vehicle Tracking. The device is very small and can be easily connected to cars with a strong magnet. It can even be placed under the car as the device is water resistant.
This kind of GPS Tracking is very accurate as the system is able to track every movement within 2.5 meters every second. Another great feature with this device is that it is compatible with Google Earth and since it is equipped with USB you can just connect the tracking device to your computer. Then you can upload the data to Google Earth and look in great detail at every movement that the car has done.

This device sounds like an excellent solution if you want to track where your vehicle has been, but it should of course not be abused with illegal tracking.

After a long period with no knitting I have moved into a new house with several other knitters. We are trying to make much of the stuff that we need in our household. My latest project is this knitted hand towel, made out of white cotton, that you can see below in the picture. We are gonna use the hand towels in the bathrooms in our house.
It might have been easier to just go to Ikea and buy some cheap towel made in the far east, but it is much satisfying to produce your own stuff. The towel is about half done and I will show you the final product as soon as it is done.

I have tried to make some kind of “pearl” pattern in this towel and I think it looks pretty good. It is fun to experience with new ways of knitting 🙂

Find nice wine racks for your wine collection

I am a big fan of drinking wine when I eat a good dinner or have company with my best friends. When you have a few wine bottles laying around it can be very practical to get yourself a wine rack. Wine racks can also look good as a part of your kitchen.

A website selling Wine Racks is The Vine Store (thevinestore.com). They have a wide selection of different wine racks in materials like stone and wood.
To find a wine rack that suits your home you can browse their selection by selecting what kind of material you are interested in or what kind of style you want your wine rack to look like. You can also browse by how much you are willing to pay, from as low as $10 to over $300 if you have more money to spend.
The Vine Store are also selling wine accessories like equipment for controlling humidity. Other wine accessories include wine bags, labels, guides, glasses, corkscrews, glasses, wine coolers and much more.

The Vine Store ships their products throughout continental US and you do not have to pay any sales taxes if you do not live in the state of Ohio. They have a 100% satisfaction guarantee so if you are not happy with a product you can send it back within 15 days and get all your money back.

The Vine Store sounds like a great place to shop if you are interested in getting more out of drinking wine.

Some worrying news from South America about our tux friends. According to an article on express.co.uk penguins native to Antarctica are found washed up further and further north on South American continent. About 300 penguins have been found dead or alive on beaches in along the coast of Bahia state. This region is known for it’s hot weather and it is unheard of to find penguins this far north.
The public is told to leave penguins that look health alone so they can swim back to more colder waters.

The researchers are not sure why this is happening, but are suspecting lack of food from overfishing might be a cause. Stronger than usual currents can also make the penguins go astray.

Subaru car dealer in Washington DC, USA

Vehicles from Subaru are very popular here in Norway because they known for good quality and relatively (cars are very expensive here) cheap price tags. They are also popular because some of the models from Subaru are well suited for the hard climate that we have here.

If you are looking to buy a Subaru vehicle in the Washington DC (in USA) area you should check out a company called Fitzgerald Auto Malls. They run a website called New Subaru DC where you can find information about what they got to offer.
They sell all models that Subaru USA has on the marked and with their online search engine you can easily find the vehicle that suits you. On their website you can also find good instructions on how to find a dealership close to you.

The Fitzgerald company has decided that they want to go green as they are concerned about the environment. They are committed to something called Environmental Management System (EMS) which mean they make sure that environment for their customers and employees are secure. It also means they are committed to reduce their impact on the environment and much more.
Some of the dealerships receives only from environmental friendly renewable energy sources such as wind power and solar power.
They have even won an award as a token for their care for the environment. The City of Gaithersburg gave Fitzgerald the Environmental Responsibility Award in 2007.

Seems like the fishing industry in Japan is taking a step in the right direction. The largest fishing co-operative in Japan that has 230 longline tuna-fishing vessels have decided to stop fishing for short periods of time. This time will make up 2 months of the next 2 years and are estimated to cut 5% of the catch.
That doesn’t sound much at all as the worldwide tuna stocks have dramatically dropped in recent years, but it also include efforts to reduce tuna fishing in China, South Korea and Taiwan.
Earlier this summer the European Union stopped early the tuna fishing in the Mediterranean sea because they were afraid the extensive fishing would make the species go extinct.
The main reason for this extensive fishing is said to be the global popularity of sushi and sashimi. Maybe it is time for rich western yuppies (and yuppies in other parts of the world) to stop feeding on threatened species..

Lets hope these are the first steps at protecting the tuna worldwide and that is not too late!
