After starting this knitting blog I have come across lots of weird stuff that people craft and my dear friend Claire suggested that I should make a post about what is the weirdest thing you have knitted (or any other forms for crafting), received or seen.
Can’t say I have made so much weird stuff, but a few years ago I shaved my beard and complained a bit about my chins were freezing. A couple of days later a friend had knitted me a chin warmer. It looked very weird
Here is a couple of odd things I have stumbled across on the world wide webz.
Bearded cap
The Icelandic knitting company Vík Prjónsdóttir have made a very bizarre looking bearded cap that you can see in the image to the right. Apparently caps like this was used by Icelandic farmers when there was heavy snowstorms and they had to walk for long distances. It covers most of your face and neck against extreme conditions.
I’m not sure why it needs a mustache though? Maybe the Icelandic farmers wanted to look cool or maybe it’s a device to remove snot? I got a hunch that this will become a trend among bank robbers who care about fashion.
Vík Prjónsdóttir sell the bearded caps for $135 a piece so might have to dry to knit my own as an alternative to the old school balaclava. If there are any bank robbers out there reading my blog please contact me for a cheaper price
Knitted Mr Hanky
Found a knitted version of the South Park character called Mr Hanky, the Christmas Poo. Why anyone would want to knit Mr Hanky is beyond me, but if you want knit one yourself “Pocket Farmer” have written up the pattern that she used to knit this poop.
Now it is your turn to share your bizarre crafted discoveries. ![]()

Mr. Hanky knitted is a bit disturbing if you ask me lol
The bearded cap I don’t think i a good idea either. Now if they did it where it covered all the way up over the nose then that might be worth it.

thankyou for the mr hanky link as it was only the otherday we watched the mr hanky south park episode and we wondered if there was a pttern for it! now i can tell my friends “I knit shit!” *lol*

That’s my partner’s Christmas gift sorted out nice and early this year. That hat is the bee’s knees — the manufacturer either has a wicked sense of humour or needs to buy a fashion magazine from this century!
I thought the knitted graffiti tags were weird, but a knitted Mr Hanky, well… I s’pose it’s preferable to the real thing, at least if it’s for a gift;-D

Okay, the first one is kinda cute…the second one is just plain gross!
I hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Hi Knitter,
I think the bearded cap is unique. It could also be tweaked to make it a Santa Claus beard, so that those wearing the holiday suit need not have that white furry itchy fiber up their nostrils and face. Perhaps a different color for the beard would make it look sleeker.
Very nice and very creative designs. I’m putting you on my blogroll! –Durano, done!

OMG, the bearded cap is just hilarious!
9Claire on Mar 2, 2008 at 4:22 pm:
I wish we could of seen the chin warmer
All my attempts at knitting have turned into a horrible mess, but I have numerous knitted animal socks
The weirdest thing I have seen is a willy warmer, I am sure you could handle knitting one of those
10lina on Mar 4, 2008 at 7:27 am:
well, the bearded cap will sure get comments everywhere if one wear one…

I’d love to have one of those Mr. Hanky for next Christmas. That just made me laugh today.

I don’t knit, but I do crochet, and the weirdest things I have made are organ warmers. I did them in nice florescent orange, pink and lime green. Complete with testicle receptacles. Yes, I was young at the time and thought it was mighty funny. No, I did not use live models to fit them to size.

Hhmmm…Mr Hanky, that’s pretty cute. The bearded cap…I guess a black one would look sort of ninja!
14Jenn on Mar 6, 2008 at 2:48 am:
Love it!
15Margaret on Mar 9, 2008 at 1:54 pm:
I love them both — the hat is just so personable — no robber would ever wear one because you would never forget him and the poo — well it just makes me laugh to think of someone knitting poo.

I bought my husband a vintage knit weenie warmer on eBay as a gag gift on eBay. The kids got a laugh out of it Christmas morning.

I find this post very enjoyable. I never thought there was actually a knit blog, most especially a male knitter. The bearded mask was weird, but what’s up with the knitted poo? LOL

ROFL! This was such a funny post. The knitted poop was too much!!
